About the Ohio Women’s Ensemble
Originally founded in 1924, this 100-member ensemble is made up of female voices from diverse majors at Ohio University. As a performance group, WE gives collegiate women the opportunity to study, rehearse, and perform choral repertoire from a wide variety of challenging, yet rewarding, musical styles and genres. The goal of the ensemble is for each member to become a better singer, musician, and performer. WE strives to live by the motto “In Venustas et Harmonium” (In Beauty and Harmony) with the belief system that the bonds of friendship made as a sisterhood transfer to the unity of their sound. The WE executive board plans social activities, big & little sister connections, fundraisers, an annual banquet, and an annual performance tour to fulfill the sisterhood aspect of the group.
